The annual convention for the customer owned banking sector officially opens in Melbourne today.

More than 1000 industry representatives will attend Mutuals 2013, presented by the Customer Owned Banking Association and AM Institute. 

The program will include global and local perspectives on the regulatory environment and innovative ways to respond to coming business challenges and opportunities. 

International and local speakers will outline strategies to maintain market relevance and tackle a disruptive business environment where new players are emerging.

Speakers this year include:

  • Michael McQueen, author of “Winning the battle for Relevance”;
  • Mark Meyer, CEO of US credit union think-tank Filene Research Institute;
  • Dr John Laker, Chairman of APRA;
  • Dr Richard Hames, corporate philosopher and author;
  • Michael Edwards, Chief Counsel World Council of Credit Unions.
  • Annabel Crabb, ABC Political Commentator;
  • Dr Amantha Imber, consumer psychologist, advisor on innovation.
