The Customer Owned Banking Association today launched a new television campaign “Where Banking is All About You”, showing Australian consumers the benefits of switching to a credit union, building society or mutual bank.

The TV commercial is the second in COBA’s advocacy campaign for a stronger, fairer banking system as an inquiry into Australia’s financial system continues.

“We wanted to draw attention to customer owned banking delivering stability, strength and diversity to Australia’s banking market and providing outstanding service to more than 4 million customers,” COBA CEO Louise Petschler said.

“We believe for too long banking hasn’t been about ‘you’ and the campaign also reminds Australians about why the current Financial System Inquiry is so important.”

“At COBA we’re taking a pro consumer approach to this inquiry in order to achieve a more competitive system.”

COBA launched a campaign two weeks ago that questioned why billions of dollars in subsidies are given to Australia’s big four banks, supported by the Australian taxpayer.

The launch of the second television advertisement shows customer owned banking offering consumers choice and better products and services for “You”.

“This new 30 second commercial shows the value of a strong and diverse customer owned banking model for Australia’s financial system,” Ms Petschler said.

“Our number one priority is our customers and their communities, so we’re committed to providing better rates, fairer fees, responsible lending and market leading customer service.

“With an interim report just weeks away, we encourage all Australians to take an interest in the future of Australia’s financial system.”

The Customer Owned Banking Association campaign continues across radio, print and online.
