The Customer Owned Banking Association today encouraged Australians to take a moment during Stay Smart Online Week to make sure their online security is up to the mark.

COBA is a supporter of Stay Smart Online Week which this year has the theme ‘Your business is your business’.

“Online safety is a crucial element of the way we communicate and transact,” COBA CEO Mark Degotardi said.

“It’s everyone’s responsibility to ensure they stay safe online, and following a few simple tips can make a big difference.”

“COBA and its members are proud to support the week and work with other stakeholders to prevent fraud and online scams.”

Stay Smart Online week is encouraging consumers to stay safe and secure online when social networking, banking, shopping, and generally using the internet.

COBA supports the series of simple steps have been developed to promote better online security:

  • Secure your mobile device
  • Secure your desktop or laptop computer
  • Protect your online accounts
  • Safely connect and share
  • Protect your child
  • Safely trade online
  • Create secure passwords

Stay Smart Online is the Australian Government's cyber security website designed to help Australians to protect their personal and financial information online.
