Recognition of the customer owned banking model in major industry awards is welcome news and further evidence of the way our sector is setting the standard in banking.

Last night at the AB+F Australian Retail Banking Awards, Teachers Mutual Bank, P&N Bank and CUA were presented with major awards in Sydney.

CUA took out the award for Mutual of the Year for the third straight year.

Teacher’s Mutual Bank was recognised for its contribution to the community, winning the Best Bank in Socially Responsible Performance.

P&N’s creative efforts were rewarded with the Advertising/Marketing/Promotional Campaign of the Year Award.

And earlier this week at the Money Magazine Consumer Finance Awards, Queenslanders Credit Union was named Home Lender of the Year and BCU won Credit Union of the Year.

“COBA congratulates the team at these great institutions who are delivering outstanding value and service to Australians and their local communities,” COBA CEO Mark Degotardi said.

“Consumers are responding to what customer owned banking has to offer.

“These awards underline the value of diversity in our banking sector and how customer owned institutions give back to local communities.”
