COBA today supported raising awareness of cyber security and its importance for business and individuals as part of Stay Smart Online Week.

“Technology allows us to be connected like never before and this has clear benefits for both business and consumers,” COBA CEO Mark Degotardi said.

“COBA and its customer owned banking institutions are proud to support Stay Smart Online Week and this year’s theme 'Cyber safety from the lounge room to the board room'.

“By taking responsibility collectively, we can ensure that we take some easy but important steps to ensure we communicate and transact safely online.

“Stay Smart Online Week has some great tips on securing mobile devices, desktop and laptop computers, protecting online accounts, safely connecting and sharing on social networks, protecting your child, and buying and selling online.”

Stay Smart Online Week 2016 will run from the 10th to 14th of October and COBA and its members are supporting this annual Government initiative.

The key priority of Stay Smart Online (SSO) is to educate the ever-increasing number of Australians who are online about the various ways they can keep themselves and their personal information safe and secure.

“COBA’s partnership is part of a wider effort from the customer owned banking sector to promote safe and secure transactions and fight fraud and financial scams,” Mr. Degotardi said.

“COBA supports the importance of staying safe and secure online when social networking, banking, shopping, and generally using the internet.”
